John Hewitt: After graduating from Sunderland University with a BA Honours in Business & Marketing I travelled around the USA for two months, working at Seaworld and in a hotel in New Orleans. Upon my return I travelled to France and worked in a Ski Resort as a chalet host and ski guide for the winter season. Once the season had finished I then went backpacking in Europe and managed to seek employment at NIKE HQ in The Netherlands. Working as a Customer Account Executive for the largest account in Europe - JJB Sports. After two years I returned to the UK and undertook the same role with Reebok. After six months I then left for South East Asia, with the intention of twelve months travel - I was away for over two years. Taking in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo, Bali and a year working in Australia. Upon my return I established my own removal business with a business partner. The UK economy affected the business and resulted in it being more profitable as a sole trader. Having sold my share in the business I returned to university and qualified as a Business Studies teacher, moving to the Isle of Man to teach A-Level Economics and BTEC Business.
