I think Nokia are jealous haha. They come across and say apple are getting a free ride off their innovation but really what they mean is if apple bring out a new phone with that technology they will wipe the floor with them! Last ditch effort to save themselves much? Desperate timessss!
Interesting Sean, although if you were Nokia and had actually spent the billions on Reserach & Development you would be less than impressed with Apple having a "free ride" and taking the credit. Destined for the courts do you think?
If i was speaking on behalf of Nokia, Yes i would be very annoyed with the billions spent on R&D that has been essentially 'wasted' in a way. However, i am sure Nokia were realistic enough know that they are not the only people in the market, and should have anticipated it. Apple are probably the market leaders with innovation, in my opinion they acted in a way that would benefit there company! Its a dog eat dog business enviroment, and is very much survival of the fittest. The court case put against them will be in vain in my opinion, Touch screens our a open technology, and more than apple have use it, Take the LG for example.
Fair enough, they spent a lot of money on R&D, but Apple have taken it and done it so much better. Nokia are really only trying to scrape back a bit of money since they're so behind on sales. A bit pointless really, since even if they win the court case, Apple will just find a new way.
Its all about the R&D guys, the investment we are looking at here is in the billions. Patent infringement is serious business.
It would seem likely that it is going to be almost impossible to prove any foul play in the courts but being able to be a first mover and stay at the forefront of technological advances not only gives a competitive edge but also keeps you the number one brand in the eyes of the consumer.
After all, how many consumers really care where the technology has come from, so long as it works!!
I am not sure i agree with you there Sir! I i buy a product that will cost me a good bit, which itouch's and iphones do, i want to know whether the company is well established, so the product doesnt break! also, its about image INITT ;)

ReplyDeleteNever mind me being a politician, Sean, you would definitely succeed in being some sort of high up business analyst type person!

ReplyDeleteExactly Thomas! Nokia may need to look at what their employees need to be more innovative, and to make more modern ideas like Apple.
